hacking mele M9: the allwinner quadcore A31

mele M9 is a allwinner A31 powered device. a few days ago, it start for internal testing.

simple spec:

  • SOC: All winner A31 quadcore Cortex A7 1GHz
  • GPU: PowerVR 544 MP2
  • DDR: 2GB DDR3
  • FLASH: 16GB
  • Android 4.1
  • video play: up to 60Mbps
  • revolution: up to 2160p
  • interface: HDMI 1.4, RJ45 100Mbps, 3xUSB2.0, 1xmicro usb device, SD/SDHC

i have wait A31 powered STB or development board for such a long time. considering it is easily hack the mele A1000, i buy mele M9.
BTW: mele M9 is called mele A1000G quadcore in aliexpress and arm-netbook.

the uart pin is same as mele A1000, from left to right: 3v3, Tx, Rx, Gnd.

bootloader said it is the AXP221, but no label on it:

the u-boot and kernel source code has been released for a while, also, there are MP tools for update and make bootable SD card.
So, it should be easy to put a linux server on it.
maybe the x11 is a little bit harder that allwinner A10 and A20. they both including mali400.
